packages not scanned in

Posted quite a few packages into a postbox early on monday. Now its Tuesday and they still not showing up on tracking. one of the packages I handed in to the lady at the counter, she scanned it in but no update since then. Usually they all get scanned at depot that night. am I being paranoid or anyone got any reassurance?

My experience is that sometimes any update doesn't appear even until delivery. They can be quite random when and how they show.

I have encountered this previously.

In my experience its one of three situations:
1. Some postboxes advertise that they are empted every monday - friday but in practice this may not always be the case. Some are notorious for it. So chances are they are still in that postbox.

2.It is also possible the driver didnt notice the packages and they have gone off with the standard mail which will cause further delays but they will eventually get noticed and delivered accordingly.

3. NZ post are pretty inconsistent with their scanning. It is possible they are on track and scanning will be updated once the driver scans it to deliver it most likely tomorrow morning.

And so basically a parcel can sit in a postbox and not get scanned until it's at the depot which could be days and days as per TucoSalamanca's explanation.
