Real name vs. fake name for domestic

I've always used my real name and never had any issues till recently when a package didnt show up. Is there any reason why I shouldn't use a fake name incase my real name is burnt?

Obviously you can't pick it up from the depot if for whatever reason they couldn't deliver to your address, but is it even worth the risk in that case anyway?

Another thing I've never understood is the controlled delivery idea. Surely if mail comes in your name, it doesn't automatically mean you were expecting it. So why do people say to leave a package unopened for a few days for plausible deniability?

From what I know if you use a fake name it opens you up for additional charges if you get caught.
