OpSec Guidepost

This post offers a concise overview and framework of key OpSec topics and practices. It’s designed as an introductory guide to help you understand what’s important and what you might need to consider, rather than an in-depth analysis. Think of it as a guidepost to get you started.

Remember, OpSec isn’t always convenient—it requires ongoing learning and adaptation. The measures you use should align with your specific threat model.

Hardware Security
- • Separate devices/networks for darknet vs. personal use
- • Disable/remove webcams, mics, and speakers
- • Secure peripherals (mice, keyboards, screens, smart meters)
- • Disable unused hardware interfaces (WiFi, Bluetooth)
- • Prefer Ethernet over WiFi
- • Minimize devices with sensitive data
- • Securely destroy storage devices

Software Security
- • Multi-layer encryption (FDE, PGP, etc.)
- • Use hidden volumes for sensitive data
- • Security-focused OS (Qubes, Whonix, Tails)
- • Enable 2FA for all accounts
- • Spoof/change MAC addresses
- • Secure communications (PGP, OMEMO)
- • Sanitize shared files (remove metadata)
- • Use Monero for payments
- • Minimize apps; remove unused ones
- • Disable JavaScript; use Tor Browser’s safest settings

Data Security
- • Strong passwords + KeePass
- • Minimize sensitive data to reduce exposure
- • Strip metadata (ExifTool, MAT)

Mobile Security
- • Limit phone use to avoid location tracking
- • Use burner phones with anonymous SIMs
- • Remove battery when unused
- **• Phones can leak data even when "off"

Communication Security
- • Adapt writing style to avoid identification
- • Avoid sharing identifying info (timezone, location)
- • Use misinformation in online profiles
- **• Switch identities if OPSEC is compromised

Physical Security
- • Never discuss darknet activities publicly
- • Be aware of surveillance in public
- • Blend in with others
- • Avoid electronic tracking devices (cards, phones, Bluetooth)

Re: OpSec Guidepost

Although it was a very long time ago I have studied law and I've also studied the Misuse of Drugs Act.

So here's some things that hopefully you'll find useful.

Rule number 1
Shut the fuck up. Don't let ANYONE know your business. That means best friend, relatives etc. If you tell someone you never know if they're going to tell someone who tells someone and it reaches someone you've fucked off or some "good samaritan" who tells the cops for your "own good."

The cops can't compel you to say anything but they are experts in using psychology. When the cops show up at someone's door there's a chance that you'll go into panic mode. In that case one idea is to have a card ready with something like "My lawyer has told me that I'm not to talk to the police in these circumstances" or something like that.

Rule number 2
The cops can't search without a warrant. And that includes devices. Basically treat them like vampires - they can't go in unless you invite them in. There are exceptions though.

Example: You've stopped by the police and casually asked "Have you taken any substances recently" and you say you had a bit of weed the night before. You've just given them permission to search you.

If you can install software on your phone where when someone enters a passcode you've set up it factory resets your device.

Rule number 3
Beware of things that put you on the radar.

For example importing a pill press will put you on the radar.

Another example, and I think this is quite common, is unusual power or water usage.

Another less subtle example. Say you decide to import using crates of bananas. Be ware of when people legitimately import bananas. If it's the time of the year when they wouldn't , and you're importing a large quantity, that's going raise suspicions.

One last thing. Know the quantities where it is assumed you're dealing. If you're caught with quantities 5 times that it becomes a crown matter, otherwise it's a police matter. So if you can, keep the quantities under 5 times, unless of course you're willing to take the risk.

Anyway, hope this helps.

=== VENDOR OPSEC TIPS ===

• Word of Mouth Risks
People often tell friends, who may accidentally spill secrets to the wrong person when careless or under the influence.

• Never Share Information
If you’re a vendor, never discuss business with anyone - zero exceptions.
Secrets will leak, and police will investigate you.

• Police Encounters
Never speak to police.
If threatened, stay silent or say: "Speak to my lawyer."

• Legal Protection
Always have a lawyer on standby.

• Drug Storage
Never keep all your stock in one place.
Spread it out among trusted individuals you’d trust with your life.

Re: OpSec Guidepost

Ill add to this if you are a vendor

Use Tails: Don’t cash out through exchanges that require Know Your Customer (KYC) verification.

    Account Management:
Replace your accounts every 12 months.
In the 8th month, start building a reputation with the new account before closing the old one. It's a bit of a hassle, but necessary.

    Package Sending:
Use drop boxes whenever possible; they are often emptied at the end of the day.
Be cautious with roadside post boxes; tracking updates are irregular, and delivery takes longer. This was how I sent packages during Level 4 lockdown.

    Package Limits:
Never post too many packages from the same location.
Use multiple locations to send packages. It's surprising how many people stick to one place. Remember, tracking info can still be accessed after delivery—even by the cops.

    Safety Precautions:
If you have a record, always wear gloves while handling packages.
Be cautious about where you park. For example, an OG vendor named NZanibolics got caught because the police tracked his packages to a dairy where they reviewed camera footage and captured his license plate while he was parked outside.
