domestic mail is slow. I sent a letter via courier 'target next day' Auckland to Wellington on Monday, didn't arrive until thursday.

I ordered 3 weeks ago and nothing yet. Corona virus will be delaying mail for sure. I'm wondering if it'd be a good time to put orders in now as customs will be just trying to get all the mail out. Any thoughts on this?

Potentially, depends on your method of receiving. You're not allowed to pick up from the courier depot anymore.
