Monero help

Yo, boys I am trying to get monero gui wallet remote daemon working. But it keeps saying Error: Couldn't connect to daemon: 127.0.0.1:18081

I have version 0.17.3.2. Have changed socks5 proxy to a remote trusted daemon. But I can't seem to connect. I am definitely doing something wrong.

I can't host a local node as I am using tails USB, and don't have 16GB of ram.

Can I get some help?

cheers

Re: Monero help

You *should* be fine just using "Simple" mode which connects to some remote public nodes (automatically) instead of downloading the whole blockchain. Well, that entirely depends on your level of paranoia/opsec.. for the best security run a full node yourself.

When you very first run monero GUI after you select the language it then asks which mode you want to use, one of: Simple mode, Simple mode (bootstrap) and Advanced mode. I haven't had any issues with the simple mode before when running on a machine with limited storage, it can be slow as hell using remote nodes though so you gotta be patient and just leave it open for a while to sync up.
